Among Father Gaubil's papers, we can find several translations of Chinese canonical texts. Delisle owned a manuscript of Gaubil's translation of the Book of Documents (Shujing, 書經), which wouldn't be published until one decade after its author's death (1759).
This collection of annals of China early years were compiled, according to tradition, by Confucius. They begin with the reign of the very ancient Emperor Yao.
